Integrating GEOINT AI Into Military Operations With NGA Maven Program

100,000

The NGA Maven Program, formally known as Project Maven under the Algorithmic Warfare Cross-Functional Team (AWCFT), was conceived in 2017 as an initiative to build and integrate AI into military operations. It has become the Department of Defense’s (DoD) most visible GEOINT AI program, analyzing massive amounts of imagery collected by a system of sensors and platforms, to automatically detect, identify, characterize, extract, and attribute features and objects. ECS Federal has served as the Prime AI Interoperability Integrator (AI3) for the end-to-end Maven Program since September 2017, playing a pivotal role in enhancing military operations, combating the deluge of data, driving AI development and adoption, and operationalizing AI for DoD use cases.

The DoD Leverages AI to Protect and Defend US Interests

Millions

The Department of Defense (DoD) leads the charge in defending our national security, turning massive volumes of multi-domain imagery data into reliable detections and insights that support operational and intelligence workflows in real time. To help maintain its edge over our adversaries, the DoD has operationalized AI through a groundbreaking computer vision (CV) program — developing its first AI factory. ECS supports this initiative by curating millions of standard and non-standard data files and training more than 1,000 AI models. Now deployed globally, these models have revolutionized decision-making processes, enabling the DoD to execute across numerous Joint Force mission areas with unprecedented accuracy and speed. ECS is the largest provider of fielded AI models to the DoD.

The VA Improves Veterans’ Experiences With AI

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Experience Office (VEO) is committed to providing top-tier customer service to veterans and their families. To better handle the 1.2 million veteran calls and 17.4 million cases processed annually, the VEO sought advanced AI capabilities. ECS developed an AI-powered natural language processing solution that automatically classifies and analyzes large volumes of unstructured data. This has drastically improved the accuracy of content tagging, streamlined operations, and enabled the VA to offer faster, more personalized support to veterans across the country.

Advancing Geospatial Intelligence for National Security

The NGA is tasked with providing GEOINT capabilities to support our national security and defense. Its mission involves collecting, analyzing, and distributing geographic and imagery-based intelligence to help inform military operations, national policy, disaster relief, and other government functions. ECS is the largest provider of remote sensing image scientists and data scientists to the NGA, supporting missions across the intelligence community (IC), the DoD, the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG), and commercial GEOINT enterprises. By automating the processing and analysis of vast amounts of satellite imagery and geospatial data, ECS enables agencies to make faster, more informed decisions in real time. These AI-driven solutions enhance situational awareness and improve mission outcomes, from disaster response to military operations.

CISA Optimizes Risk Management Through AI Dashboards

As the nation’s leading agency for protecting critical infrastructure, the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) needed an advanced solution to manage and mitigate risks across federal civilian networks. ECS played a pivotal role in transforming CISA’s legacy risk management system into the modern Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) dashboard ecosystem. By aggregating data from more than 90 federal agencies, this AI-powered system provides real-time visibility and enables proactive remediation. ECS’ solution has empowered CISA to better prioritize cybersecurity resources and improve federal cyber hygiene across the board.

USPS Detects Postal Fraud With Machine Learning

Millions

of dollars of revenue loss prevented

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) faces constant challenges in detecting and preventing mail fraud. With millions of packages shipped daily, identifying underpaid or fraudulent packages is a critical mission. ECS has developed a machine learning-based system that analyzes package data and flags suspicious transactions in real time. This solution has already saved the USPS millions of dollars weekly by automating the detection of postal fraud, ensuring timely deliveries, and supporting the USPS’s long-term financial sustainability.

Multiple

Naval assets leveraging AI to process maritime data

The U.S. Navy is continually advancing its sonar technology to navigate and detect threats in increasingly challenging underwater environments. ECS supports the Navy through multiple projects, with AI solutions designed to help operators process vast amounts of maritime data. By rapidly training and deploying AI models, ECS has helped the Navy enhance situational awareness. This technology has become a key tool in ensuring the safety and operational effectiveness of the U.S. Navy.

ECS is a leading provider of AI/ML capabilities to the DoD and is committed to empowering federal agencies with innovative data and AI solutions. The foundation for that commitment: more than 200 data professionals and 60 AI/ML engineers and data scientists, backed by more than 1,000 corporate certifications, accreditations, and awards.

By enhancing decision-making capabilities and automating complex processes, we ensure that our customers can focus on what they do best — serving the American people.
