Every day across the federal government, key agencies and departments do the tireless work of protecting sensitive information, safeguarding critical infrastructure, and defending the American people. At ECS, serving as a trusted partner in that work is the core of who we are and what we do. As our talented professionals meet challenge after challenge with innovation and a collaborative spirit, difference makers across the government are empowered to execute the missions that matter most.

Read on as we highlight seven missions where we are proud to have played a pivotal role in serving the needs of everyday Americans.

Fortifying Healthcare’s Digital Defenses

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is at the forefront of administering healthcare coverage to millions of Americans. In the interest of protecting these citizens’ healthcare information, CMS has developed a robust cybersecurity program across its 50 data centers and more than 100,000 assets. ECS runs CMS’s Cybersecurity Integration Center (CCIC), which includes a 24/7/365 security operations center (SOC), cyber threat intelligence (CTI), forensics, threat hunting, and the incident management communications team. ECS leverages a large security information and event management (SIEM) deployment, security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) integration, IT service management software integration, and expert cybersecurity professionals to help CMS maintain a resilient defense against emerging threats. This allows CMS to focus on its critical healthcare mission with confidence.

Enabling Real-time Cyber Risk Management

The Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the nation’s frontline cybersecurity agency, protects the federal civilian network through continuous monitoring and risk management. To better equip agencies with real-time visibility into their cybersecurity posture, CISA needed to modernize its legacy governance dashboard. ECS played a key role in transforming that dashboard into a modern, scalable platform used by more than 90 federal agencies: the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) dashboard, an ecosystem of more than 100 agency dashboards providing visibility into detailed cybersecurity data. By providing advanced data aggregation and risk scoring, ECS enables CISA to facilitate informed, proactive decision-making that improves cyber hygiene and incident response across government networks.

Defending the Army’s Endpoints

The U.S. Army is tasked with defending its extensive IT networks across classified and unclassified systems from evolving cyber threats, including more than 800,000 endpoints. ECS supports this critical mission through our Army Endpoint Security Solution (AESS), the only true managed security service used by the Army. AESS provides next-generation cybersecurity capabilities, including endpoint detection and response and unified asset management for improved network visibility. Together, ECS and the Army block more than 1.5 million malicious events per month, maintaining a proactive defense against ever-changing cybersecurity challenges.

Securing Global Diplomacy

The U.S. Department of State (State) is responsible for leading our nation’s foreign policy, managing international relations and representing our nation in diplomatic efforts around the world. To secure our nation’s diplomatic communications and operations, State implements the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) and tracks Federal Information System Management Act (FISMA) compliance across all its systems, including 26 high-value assets. ECS supports State by providing assessments and programmatic assistance in the Assessment & Authorization (A&A) of 547 classified and unclassified systems. Our collaboration ensures that State can confidently protect its digital assets while engaging in effective international relations.

Safeguarding America’s Most Sensitive Data

The U.S. Census Bureau collects comprehensive demographic, economic, housing, social, and geographic data through various surveys and programs, including the decennial census and the American Community Survey. This data is used for purposes like apportioning seats in the House of Representatives, redistricting, allocating federal funds, and supporting research, policy planning, and business decisions. The Census Bureau also leads the way in securing the personal data of more than 330 million American citizens. With the responsibility of protecting one of the largest data repositories in the world, the Census Bureau has implemented a comprehensive cybersecurity program designed to prevent unauthorized access and breaches. ECS partners in that mission, offering innovative cybersecurity capabilities that bolster the bureau’s efforts. Our support ensures that the data collected during the census remains secure, enabling the Census Bureau to carry out its essential mission of accurately representing the population.

Supporting Critical Financial Infrastructure

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stands as the guardian of the U.S. financial marketplace, overseeing the cybersecurity of 28,000 regulated entities. To stay ahead of evolving threats, the SEC has developed a holistic cyber threat intelligence model that delivers critical insights into global threats impacting the financial sector. ECS supports the SEC by providing advanced threat dashboards, alerting systems, and contextual reports that enhance the commission’s understanding of cyber threats. With ECS’ partnership, the SEC can continue to protect the integrity of the financial markets and the nation’s economic stability.

Protecting Our Students’ Futures

Federal Student Aid (FSA), a division of the Department of Education, plays a crucial role in managing the financial future of millions of students. To protect the sensitive data of more than 10 million students and oversee the secure processing of $250 billion in student loans and grants, FSA — with ECS’ support — has implemented stringent security controls. ECS provides specialized application development, cybersecurity tool maintenance, risk management, and security controls testing in support of FSA’s mission, ensuring that student information remains secure. With ECS’ guidance, FSA continues to protect the personal and financial information of students across the nation.
