At the direction of U.S. Government, ECS Federal worked with a team of IT experts to develop and deploy a government website that aims to increase the adoption of telehealth at a time when it is essential to protect the public. In addition to providing general information about the latest developments in telehealth to general public, website serves to provide access to clear, timely information and resources for incorporating telehealth into medical practices. The website leverages the recent uptick in telehealth to explore the long-term potential of telehealth resources and services to address the diverse health needs of the American public.
For a speedy and efficient response to the need of the hour, ECS assembled a team of key IT experts and broke the team into front-end website development team and a backend ECS infrastructure team to provide expert MSP services, with ECS acting as the system architect, system integrator, cloud reseller, and managed service provider. ECS used an agile approach to architect a serverless website by leveraging Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon CloudFront, AWS Shield, and AWS Lambda@Edge services. The website content is stored in S3 buckets, but the content is served to website users via cached content at multiple CloudFront locations across U.S. Amazon Shield is used to protect against DDoS attacks, whereas Lamda@Edge Functions adds security response headers to improve security and privacy for both users and providers. The frontend consists of website created through Jekyll. The backend consists of multiple AWS accounts for security, audit, and centralized logging following enterprise cloud governance best practices. ECS, as an MSP, has setup alerts and alarms on various AWS services to ensure timely response and uptime as required by the U.S. Government.
Due to national COVID-19 pandemic emergency, the project was very dynamic in nature with multiple changing priorities and requirements. ECS created a robust and flexible architecture to host telehealth website by coordinating with multiple agencies within HHS and other U.S. Government officials within a 2 week window using an agile framework leveraging JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub.
