JOHN LAU

As vice president of Defense and Intel Solutions, Mr. Lau ensures delivery excellence across the solutions portfolio. He enables the development of extensible, repeatable delivery capabilities that align with ECS’ growth strategy and works with ECS customers to navigate complex requirements and build a shared understanding and vision.

Before joining ECS, Mr. Lau was a senior strategic advisor and product line lead with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he oversaw the modernization of mission-critical systems and investments in artificial intelligence capabilities and led public-private partnership innovations to accelerate new capabilities to delivery. As deputy director for the USPTO’s Office of Enterprise Infrastructure Delivery, he spearheaded a first-of-its-kind enterprise cloud enclave on which a significant number of USPTO products now have a presence. As acting chief technology officer and senior advisor at the Department of Commerce’s Office of the Secretary, Mr. Lau streamlined front office operations and intra-departmental platform capabilities.

Mr. Lau holds a Bachelor of Science degree in information technology and is an accredited executive coach with over 500 hours of experience coaching C-suite technology leaders. He is a member of the Asian American Government Executive Network and has presented at numerous conferences on topics such as enterprise strategy, cloud adoption, technology transitions, and talent development.
