Building Solutions That Matter
Nick joined ECS in January of 2024, shortly after the company was named a prime contractor on the VA T4NG2 contract — a $60.7 billion, 10-year initiative that will provide IT and engineering services to support the VA’s critical technology infrastructure.
With decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, Nick plays a pivotal role. He crafts technical responses, engages with partners and stakeholders, and ensures that ECS continues to deliver innovative, reliable, and efficient health IT solutions, as it has since 2009 across large-scale VA enterprise programs.
“What we do is more than systems integration,” Nick explains. “It’s about understanding the VA’s vision, anticipating its needs, and presenting solutions that deliver real value to Veterans.” A core aspect of his work involves fostering relationships with VA’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) and teaming with contractors of all sizes to secure new task orders.
“I don’t just work in this space; I live it. I’ve used VA services for years, and I want to make them better for my fellow Veterans.”
The Veteran’s Perspective
Nick’s passion for the VA’s mission is deeply personal. After serving two years of active duty and seven years in the Navy Reserve, he transitioned to a civilian career that kept him closely connected to Veterans. He has worked for major organizations like Dell, GDIT, and the VA itself, gaining firsthand experience in systems integration and federal health infrastructure.
“I started out at the VA when everything was on paper,” Nick recalls. “Today, the VA has a robust virtualized infrastructure that supports thousands of servers and virtual machines, and I’m proud to have helped create that.” His military background, he notes, instilled a strategic mindset: “In the Navy, we learned to listen, plan meticulously, and adapt quickly. That foundation has served me well in IT.”

Collaboration and Excellence
ECS’ success under the T4NG2 contract will depend on teamwork — both internally and externally. Nick emphasizes the importance of building transparent and collaborative partnerships.
“One thing that sets ECS apart is how we engage with our technology partners,” he says. “We don’t just assign tasks. We listen to, involve, and empower our partners. That’s how we build trust and deliver results.”
This approach reflects ECS’ broader commitment to integration excellence. By delivering solutions with speed, efficiency, and minimal disruption, ECS ensures its clients — like the VA — can serve their customers effectively.
A Vision for the Future
As ECS looks ahead, Nick remains focused on his mission: serving Veterans through innovation and collaboration. His message to VA stakeholders is clear:
“We care about Veterans because we are Veterans. ECS is here to listen, collaborate, and deliver solutions that work. When you partner with us, you’re partnering with people who genuinely understand and share your mission, and whenever we deliver a solution that improves Veterans’ experiences, that win feels personal.”
Through his leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering dedication, Nick Hill exemplifies what it means to do work that matters. With professionals like Nick at the helm, the future of Veteran care is in capable hands.
